Least number of candidates registered were in Prakrit with 44, and Kashmiri in 53. Chinese, which was considered to be a popular language too was limited to 73 candidates for UGC NET June 2019, according to official data.

The NTA had changed the exam syllabus for all the subjects under the UGC NET last year which will also be followed this year. The revised and detailed syllabus is available at the website. In some cases, only a slight change is made. Candidates who are appearing for the exam should prepare accordingly.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has established a Query Redressal System (QRS), an online web-enabled system developed by NTA. QRS is the platform based on web technology which primarily aims to enable submission of queries/grievance of students
The NTA will release the score in percentile form. Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all those who appear for the examination. Basically, the marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. The Percentile Score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored EQUAL TO OR BELOW (same or lower raw scores) that particular Percentile in that examination.
Till last year, the exam was conducted in two parts — paper I and paper II with a gap period in between but the NTA has decided to conduct both papers in one go. The UGC NET tests nearly 84 subjects and is held in 91 selected cities. The test determines the eligibility for either the Assistant Professor post or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or both. While those who clear the CSIR NET are eligible for research under junior research fellowship.
In March 2019, over 9.56 lakh candidates appeared for UGC NET, the eligibility test held to fill government teachers post. Every year, nearly over 10 lakh appear for the NET. This year, over 10 lakh have registered for the exam.
The UGC NET Certificate for the award of Junior Research fellowship remains valid till three years from the date of declaration of the Result or issuing the certificates. The Certificate for Lectureship has no such validation limit
On the exam day, candidates have to carry the admit card as a print copy. Along with it, candidates also need to carry one passport size photograph and one valid photo id proof, as the original.
While CBSE last conducted the UGC NET exam in 2017, about 9.30 lakh candidates had registered for the same. The exam was conducted in 91 cities at 1700 exam centres.
Till June 2018, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country. Since Dec 2018 onwards, the UGC- NET is being conducted by the NTA.
Candidates are not allowed to carry any paper in the exam to prevent cheating, however, the NTA will provide a rough sheet which candidates will have to submit while leaving the exam hall.
The candidates shall report at the Examination Centre two hours before the commencement of the examination so as to complete the frisking and registration formalities well before time. The registration desk will be closed 30 minutes prior to the examination, as per the NTA. The reporting time will also be mentioned as per the exam session on the admit card.
The CSIR exam will consist of three parts, all of which will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between papers. In the paper, there will be three sections — A (20 questions), B (40 questions) and C (60 questions), of which candidates will have to attempt a minimum of 75 questions. Each question will carry two marks and the exam will be of a total of 200 marks. For every wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted in A and B part while in part C, one mark will be deducted.
The UGC NET exam will be divided into two parts. Paper-I will assess teaching, research aptitude of candidates, while Paper II will be based on the subject selected by the candidates. Paper I will be of 100 marks while paper II of 200.
Anyone who scores 55 per cent marks in the exam is considered qualified (50 per cent for reserved category) for the CSIR. While the criteria is common for UGC NET for the assistant professorship, only the top six per cent qualifying candidates out of those selected are shortlisted for the post of assistant professor.
The CSIR NET exam will be held for chemical sciences, earth atmospheric ocean and planetary science, life science, mathematical sciences and physical sciences only. The UGC NET consists of a total of 81 subjects. The candidates are advised to appear for the exam in which they have obtained their postgraduate degree. The stipend of a JRF selected through both CSIR and UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) will be Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years. In addition, an annual contingency grant of Rs 20,000 per fellow will be provided to the university or institute. On completion of two years as JRF and if one is registered for PhD, the fellowship will be upgraded to SRF (NET) and the stipend will be increased to Rs 35,000 monthly.
Earlier UGC used to conduct the NET. The NTA has announced to conduct the exam twice a year. Now NET is held in December and June. The dates for UGC NET June 2020 have also been released and the exam will be held from June 15 to 20, 2020. The application forms for the June exam will release on March 16, 2020.
Admit card will have details of the exam date, timing, centre address, roll number, the application number, reporting timing among others. Exam instructions are also given at the end of the admit card.
NET will be held between December 2 and 6, while CSIR NET will be conducted on December 15. The admit cards for both will be released today.
