IBPS CWE PO/MT: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has conducted the preliminary round for recruitment of probationary officer positions in public sector banking on October 16, that is, today. This one hour exam was held in four slots from morning to evening.
There were three sections comprise this 100 mark exam which included quantitative aptitude ( 35 questions), English language (30 questions) and reasoning ability (35 questions). Based on the feedback gathered from students who appeared in the exam today, the overall analysis is as follows:
Quantitative Aptitude (Maths)
Sonia Grover, Director of Vidya Guru institute, said,“The level of questions in this section was moderate to difficult. Number series, approximation (calculation based), data interpretation and quadratic equations were some of the prominent topics .”
Apart from that, a total of around 10 questions were there topics of arithmetic such as mixture allegation, average, profit and loss, problems on ages, boats & stream, compound interest / simple interest, time and work.
Around 17 to 22 could have been attempted without much difficulty.
English language
In the English Language, students have found the section a little tricky. The main focus was on reading comprehension, cloze test, sentence error spotting and sentence rearrangement (parajumbles). “ A promising candidate could have attempted 20+ questions without taking too many risks,” said Grovar.
Saurabh Agarwal, an aspirant, found the paper tough. “Both reasoning ability and English language were difficult and lengthy,” said he.

Reasoning ability
The questions in reasoning section presented moderate difficulty level. However, some lengthy questions were difficult. Syllogisms, mathematical inequalities, puzzle test, seating arrangement, blood relations, direction sense test have been the major topics apart from some miscellaneous ones.
Around 18 to 20 can be considered a fair number of question attempts.
“The exam was not difficult for a well-prepared candidate and they should have attempted around 55 to 60 questions in order to get shortlisted for the main examination,” Grover added.
Expected cut-off score (category-wise)
General: 40+
OBC: Around 35
SC: Between 27 and 32
ST: Around 20
