In the early hours of Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who began his spiritual retreat on Thursday evening at the sacred Vivekananda Rock Memorial, performed ‘surya arghya’ during sunrise at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. He continued his meditation before the Devi Paadham, believed to be the footprint of Bhagavathi Amman, who herself meditated on this rock in devotion to Lord Shiva.
A short video clip, ‘Sunrise, Surya Arghya, Spirituality’, posted by the BJP on its ‘X’ handle showed the PM offering water (Arghya) into the sea.

The BJP also posted photographs of the Prime Minister, clad in saffron shirt, shawl and dhoti, engrossed in meditation at the Dhyan Mandapam. Modi also walked around the mandapam with his ‘japa mala’ (prayer beads) in his hands.
The usually bustling memorial, now under tight security, welcomed tourists with strict regulations for a few hours in the morning and evening.
Modi’s retreat follows a pattern seen in previous elections. After the Lok Sabha poll campaigns in 2019, he had paid a visit to Kedarnath, and Shivaji’s Pratapgarh in 2014.
Modi’s departure from Kanyakumari is scheduled for 3:30pm on Saturday and he leaves for Delhi at 4:10pm on an Indian Air Force Aircraft from Thiruvananthapuram.
