Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the dates for the 2027 Haridwar Kumbh Mela during a meeting with Acharyas and saints of all 13 Akharas on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar.
The interaction marked the first time that preparations for the Kumbh were discussed on the ghat itself. CM Dhami sought suggestions from the Akharas and said the state would prioritise their traditions and requirements while planning for the Kumbh. He said the government aims to make the arrangements more systematic and aligned with expectations from the saint community.
The Chief Minister released the bathing schedule as follows:
CM Dhami said the state has started large-scale planning for the Kumbh 2027 and will coordinate with central and state security agencies. Local police, NDRF, PAC, the Health Department and the Fire Department will handle safety and emergency response. Officials who have previously managed Kumbh melas will help guide crowd and traffic planning.
He said agencies have begun work on waste management, drainage and ghat cleanliness. The Chief Minister added that the government expects a larger footfall in 2027 compared to the 2010 and 2021 Kumbhs.
Acharyas and saints welcomed the government’s approach and said they would cooperate with the state as preparations move forward. Dhami also shared a meal with them after the meeting.
Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra, Haridwar Mayor Kiran Jaisal, Roorkee Mayor Anita Devi Agrawal, BJP state vice president Swami Yatishwaranand and senior district and police officials also attended the prep meeting.
