Calling the UPA “the most corrupt regime India has ever seen” during a short duration discussion on the White Paper on Indian Economy, the BJP Saturday said that the PM Narendra Modi-led central government has taken various steps to strengthen the economy.
Highlighting the achievements, BJP leader Sushil Modi said the 10 years of UPA was the “most corrupt regime” and referred to various alleged scams such as the 2G, coal block allocation, Commonwealth Games and Adarsh Housing Society. Stating that “corruption was rampant during UPA regime”, he said that seven of its ministers had to resign.
He also alleged there was a massive banking crisis and the stakes were too high and domestic investors went overseas because of policy paralysis, delays in projects and uncertainties.
“India became a fragile economy due to economic mismanagement,” he said, adding there was a leadership crisis and India’s economic growth was impeded.
He underlined that during the 10 years of the Modi government, there has not been a case of corruption against any of the ministers or against the PM himself.
Turning things around after coming to power in 2014, he said coal production was increased through auction of coal blocks in a transparent manner, making the country a power sufficient. The government also undertook a spectrum auction and achieved the fastest rollout of 5G in the world, he said. BJP members Ghanshyam Tiwari, Vijay Pal Singh Tomar and Seema Dwivedi also targeted the UPA regime over corruption and economic mismanagement, while highlighting steps taken by the Modi government for India’s economic growth.
