Tripura woman throws acid on her husband, arrested

According to the complaint, the accused suddenly threw acid on her spouse, Shibaji Debbarma, while they were riding a motorcycle on their way to Sumitra Debbarma’s parental home on Wednesday.

Shibaji Debbarma, 38, sustained burn injuries and started screaming. Later, some locals rushed him to the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital in Agartala. His condition was reportedly stable.

“A complaint was filed by the mother of the acid attack survivor, based on which we registered a case. We arrested the woman today,” said a police officer.

The officer stated that, as per their initial investigation, the attack was a result of a domestic dispute.
