On Tuesday, the Central Public Works Department, which constructed the new building, began preparations for a “national flag-hoisting function” in front of the Gaj Dwar, one of the three ceremonial entrances, by floating a tender for hiring a public address system. According to two sources aware of the developments, this would be the first such ceremonial flag hoisting at the new building.
With the session nearing, senior officials of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and the CPWD on Tuesday undertook visits to the new building. Last-minute checks of audio levels in the Rajya Sabha and the multimedia systems for MPs were carried out, an official said.
