Several Teachers Eligibility Test-qualified candidates protested outside the Tripura chief minister’s residence in Agartala Sunday demanding the immediate start of the recruitment drive. Qualifying TET is essential for teaching jobs at the elementary education level.

Nearly 40,000 candidates appeared for the TET in 2022, among whom 261 candidates qualified. However, those who cleared the TET have not been recruited till date.

“We have been seeking an appointment with the chief minister since 2022 to place our demand… We want to know the reason behind the delay in the recruitment process,” said a protester.

The protester argued that several candidates who qualified the exam may surpass the maximum age limit due to the delay in the recruitment process.

In December last year, a group of TET-qualified youths had also protested outside the CM’s residence demanding the start of the recruitment process.
