The estranged husband of Suchana Seth, the Bengaluru-based CEO of a tech start-up accused of allegedly murdering her four-year-old son in a Goa hotel, is learnt to have told the police that following a family court’s order allowing him visitation rights in November 2023, he had met his son at least twice, but for the past five Sundays, his wife had not been allowing the child to meet his father.
Seth’s estranged husband, Venkatraman PR, arrived in Goa on Saturday afternoon to record his statement.
A police officer privy to the investigation said, “A detailed statement is being recorded to verify facts of the case. For the past five Sundays, she did not allow her son to meet his father.”
Police sources had earlier told The Indian Express that Seth had sent a message to her estranged husband on Saturday (January 6), saying he could come and meet their son on Sunday in Bengaluru, as mandated by the recent court order. “But, when he did not get any response regarding visitation on Sunday, he left for Jakarta for business purposes,” said a police officer.
Seth and Venkatraman married in 2010 and had a son in 2019, following which differences cropped up in their marriage. The two were separated and embroiled in divorce and custody proceedings. Police had earlier told The Indian Express that strained relations with her husband and a custody battle may have led her to allegedly commit the crime.
Seth had booked the hotel room at hotel Sol Banyan Grande in Candolim from January 6 to January 10, but on January 7 night, she checked out of the hotel, claiming she had urgent work in Bengaluru. She was caught from Karnataka’s Chitradurga district while allegedly trying to flee in a cab with her son’s body stuffed in a bag.
