The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday recommended new Chief Justices for the High Courts of Patna, Meghalaya and Manipur.
For Patna, the Collegium headed by CJI B R Gavai, proposed that Justice P B Bajanthri, who is currently Acting Chief Justice there, be appointed as Chief Justice.
The Collegium also recommended the name of Justice Soumen Sen of Calcutta HC to be made Chief Justice of Meghalaya and Justice M Sundar, who is the seniormost judge of the Madras HC to be appointed as Chief Justice of Manipur HC.
Justice Bajanthri was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka HC on January 2, 2015. He was transferred as Judge of HC of Punjab and Haryana and back to Karnataka HC. He took charge as a Judge of Patna HC on October 20, 2021. Justice Sundar was sworn in as permanent Judge of Madras HC on October 5, 2016. Justice Sen was elevated as a judge of the Calcutta HC on April 13, 2011.
