UP: Govt doctors call off their proposed strike

The strike has been called off after assurance from the UP government to bring killers of two CMOs to book.

The government doctors have called off their proposed state-wide strike from tomorrow after assurance from the Uttar Pradesh government to bring killers of Chief Medical Officers –Dr B P Singh and Dr Vinod Arya – to book.

“The decision to postpone the strike was taken yesterday after a meeting with Family Welfare Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui who assured the Provincial Medical and Health Services Association (PMHSA) that killers of CMOs – Singh and Arya – would be brought to book,” a PMHSA officer bearer said in a statement here.

The doctors’ body is up in arms against the state government after murder of CMO,Family Welfare,Dr B P Singh on April 2 and Dr Vinod Arya,who was shot dead in October last year and had decided to go on strike from April 12,if the killers were not arrested.

The PMHSA also put on hold its plan to submit conditional resignation to the government to register their protest.
