People with disabilities can now expect smooth movement in newly constructed buildings in Jammu and Kashmir with the government directing the architects to make the structures barrier free.
Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Asghar Samoon during a visit to construction site of Red Cross complex here on Friday directed the organisation of architects to ensure that the building is made barrier-free to ensure smooth movement for people with disabilities.
He also asked the engineers to ensure that the building is made earthquake resistant and reflect traditional architecture.
“Adequate parking space should be ensured in the design,” he added.
The Red Cross complex will be a multi-storied building constructed at a cost of Rs 10.47 crore.
