A mother-son duo have been sentenced to life by a local court here in connection with a dowry death case.

Additional Sessions Judge S P Arvind convicted Ramesh Bind and his mother Kahawati for killing Ramesh’s wife Sunita.

A fine of Rs 5,000 each was also imposed on them.

However,Ramesh’s father Shanker and sister Usha were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Sunita was killed in 2009 by Ramesh and his parents allegedly for dowry in Shahganj area of Jaunpur district.

An FIR was lodged against the culprits on a complaint by the victim’s father.
