A minor girl was killed and five other children were seriously injured in an explosion at West Bengals Burdwan district today,police said.
According to police,the explosives were hidden in a bag near a bush at Barasia Chanditala area in Jamuria town. It went off when a group of four boys and two girls,who went to the spot after a ball with which they were playing bounced near it,opened it out of curiosity.
While a three-year-old girl died on the way to Asansol sub-divisional hospital after being critically injured in the blast,three of the injured children were admitted to the Hospital and two others were rushed to Bahadurpur health centre,police said.
Police have rushed to the spot to ascertain the nature of the explosive materials and are investigating as to how did the bag containing the explosives reached there,they said.
