Five alleged drug peddlers were today arrested in north Kashmirs Baramulla district and over five kilograms of cannabis worth Rs five lakh was recovered from their possession.
Police laid a naka near main bus stand in Baramulla town and detained three persons moving around in suspicious circumstances after they tried to escape from the spot, a police spokesman said.
He said during a body frisk of the three persons,five kilograms of cannabis,with a value of nearly Rs five lakh,was recovered from their possession.
They were identified as Abdul Rashid Najar,Nisar Ahmad Khan and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Magray.
A case under relevant sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused.
