Dy SP among 3 policemen injured in stone pelting

When LAWDA assisted by police moved into area to demolish illegal structures resulted in agitation.

Three policemen,including a senior officer,were injured and their vehicle damaged today when they were attacked by a stone-pelting mob protesting against the demolition of two illegally-constructed structures here.

A police spokesman said Deputy Superintendent of Police Farhat Jeelani and two other policemen were injured when the protesters pelted stones at them at Saida Kadal neighbourhood.

The spokesman said a police vehicle was also damaged in the ensuing clash.

The demolition crew of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority assisted by police had moved into the area to demolish two illegal structures which agitated the locals,the spokesman said.

Traffic was disrupted on the Saida Kadal road for hours due to the clash.
