Defamation case filed against Deve Gowda

A defamation case was filed in a court against former prime minister and JDS chief H D Deve Gowda for his abusive remarks against Karnataka Advocate General Ashok Haranahally.

A defamation case was filed on Tuesday in a court here against former prime minister and JDS chief H D

Deve Gowda for his abusive remarks against Karnataka Advocate General Ashok Haranahally over the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

Hubli Youth Advocates Association Convenor Shivananda Vaddatti filed the case in the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court II.

The hearing of the suit will come up on February 2.

Gowda,leading a farmers’ agitation against acquisition of land by NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise) for the project in Hemmigepura in Ramanagaram district,had on Sunday used abusive language against Haranahally.

He had called him a “liar who has lied before the Supreme Court for acquisition of land for the project”.

He had accused the Advocate General of filing a “false affidavit before Supreme Court for handing over land for BMIC project”.

Gowda had also called Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa ‘bloody bastard’.
