The Rajya Sabha ended the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Monday afternoon and termed his suspension since August 2023 as “sufficient sentence”.

The Privileges Committee found him guilty on two counts — of intentional and deliberate act of presenting misleading facts to the media, misrepresentation of the proceedings of the council, and affront to authority of the chair; and for including the names of the members in the proposed select committee without their consent.”

After the motion was passed, Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankar said, “Shri Raghav Chadha may attend the proceedings of the house.”

In a video statement, Chadha said, “To end my suspension and go inside the Rajya Sabha to raise your voices again, I had to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court. Today, my suspension was ended. I was suspended for nearly 115 days and I could not raise your voices, I couldn’t raise your questions to the government, I couldn’t raise the voice for your rights. And, the answers you wanted from the government, I couldn’t get. But I am happy that after 115 days my suspension has ended. I thank the SC and chairman Rajya Sabha.”

Chadha was suspended after complaints of breach of privilege by four Rajya Sabha MPs — BJD’s Sasmit Patra, BJP’s S Phangnon Konyak and Narhari Amin, and AIADMK’s M Thambidurai.

They said that their names had been included without their consent for a select committee to examine the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
