The body of an 18-year-old woman, who was allegedly abducted and attacked with acid, was found in a well in Rajasthan’s Karauli district, PTI reported.

The woman’s family members along with leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including MP Kirodi Lal Meena, staged a sit-in outside the hospital where her body was kept for postmortem.

While speaking to reporters, Meena claimed that the woman was abducted, raped, and killed.

The family members have demanded immediate arrest of the culprit and compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job.

According to Nadauti SHO Babu Lal, the woman, a resident of Mohanpura of the Todabhim area, had gone missing on Wednesday. Her family members in a complaint had said that she was kidnapped and later murdered, the officer said.

Reacting to the news, BJP MP from Jaipur Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “This incident of Karauli is very heartbreaking and condemnable. The dead body of a Dalit daughter was thrown into a well after being burnt with acid. The collapsed law and order situation in Rajasthan has made women insecure. This is because the demons roaming freely have got the protection of the Congress government.”

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra also hit out at the Congress government. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Criminal incidents are continuously increasing in Rajasthan, law and order has collapsed, atrocities on Dalits and tribals have crossed the peak. But the Chief Minister of the state is not concerned about Rajasthan, he is only concerned about 10 Janpath and his chair.”

He added, “Today, the whole of Rajasthan is protesting against the heinous crime and murder of a Dalit daughter, demanding justice, but the government is trying to suppress the matter because this atrocity has happened to a Dalit daughter.”
