In a major operation, the Rajasthan CID Intelligence arrested one Hanif Khan from Jaisalmer for allegedly spying on the Army.

He was allegedly lured using money and is accused of passing confidential information to the ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence agency.

Inspector General of Police, CID (Security), Vishnukant, said that CID Intelligence had been monitoring espionage activities in the state and found Khan to have been in constant contact with ISI handlers via social media. Khan is from Jaisalmer’s Basanpir Juni, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station, and was living at Bahal village.

According to officials, since Khan lived near the India–Pakistan border, he had easy access to sensitive areas such as Mohangarh and Ghadsana. During questioning, it was revealed that he allegedly possessed details of key military installations and troop movements. He is also accused of having passed on information during Operation Sindoor.

Technical analysis of his mobile phone and interrogation at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur allegedly showed that he was sharing strategic military information with the ISI in exchange for money, officials said. After gathering evidence, CID Intelligence registered a case under the State Secrets Act, 1923, and arrested him on Thursday.

This marks the fourth espionage-related arrest in Jaisalmer this year.
