Indian Railways Round Trip Scheme starts, here’s how to book train ticket on IRCTC and get discount
IRCTC Round Trip Booking: Under the Indian Railways’ Round Trip Package scheme, the rebates will be applicable when booked for both onward and return journey for the same set of passengers.

Indian Railways Round Trip Scheme:Indian Railways‘ round trip scheme kicked off today, which aims to ensure hassle free booking. It will also redistribute the peak traffic for larger range during peak festival seasons including Diwali, Chhath, etc, and ensure both side utilisation of trains including special trains.

Under the ‘Round Trip Package,’ total rebates of 20 per cent rebates shall be applicable on the base fare of of return journey only. In a statement, the Ministry of Railways said: “Booking start date shall be 14.08.2025 for the ARP date 13th October 2025.

Onward ticket shall be booked first for the train start date between 13th October 2025 and 26th October 2025 and subsequently return journey ticket shall be booked by using connecting journey feature for the train start date between 17th November and 1st December 2025. Advance reservation period will not be applicable for booking of return journey.”
How to Book Onward Journey Ticket Under Round Trip Scheme
Onward journey dates: 13 Oct – 26 Oct 2025 (for trains originating from source station)
Onward Journey tickets can be booked from “Festival Round Trip Scheme” sub-menu under “Trains”
menu OR from Normal booking flow for above mentioned travel dates.
Please select “Trains” > “Festival Round Trip Scheme” option from Main navigation bar.
Please read all the information displayed & detailed terms and conditions carefully and proceed with OK
button.
Submit From-To station, Date of Journey, Class as per requirement and proceed with booking.
After completing the booking process, users are provided with Booking Confirmation page with details
of PNR booked.
In the Booking Confirmation page, please check “Book Return Ticket (20% Discount)” button. Similar
button will also be available against the booked ticket in “Booked Ticket History” page.
Please note that onward journey ticket can also be booked from normal booking flow, however users may ensure that Journey Dates are under defined criteria i.e. 13 Oct – 26 Oct 2025 (for trains originating from source station).
How to Book Return Journey Ticket Under Round Trip Scheme
Return journey travel dates: 17 Nov – 1 Dec 2025 (for trains originating from source station)
Return journey booking must be initiated via “Book Return Ticket (20% Discount)” button on “Booking Confirmation page” or “Booked Ticket History” of Onward Journey Ticket.
After booking Onward Journey ticket, user may proceed for Return Journey Ticket either from “Booking Confirmation page” or “Booked Ticket History” of Onward Journey Ticket by clicking “Book Return Ticket (20% Discount)”.
After clicking on the button, Please read all the information displayed & detailed terms and conditions carefully and proceed with OK button.
Source – Destination station will be of same-pair similar to Onward Journey ticket. Class of travel and Passenger list should also be same as Onward Journey ticket.
User may select Journey date as per requirement, however users may ensure that Journey Dates are under defined criteria i.e. 17 Nov – 1 Dec 2025 (for trains originating from source station)
User may proceed with Train as per requirement and continue the booking process.
After successful payment, Return Journey ticket will be booked.
For tickets booked under the Festival Round Trip Scheme, the ERS of the Onward/Return journey will also display the PNR of the other leg of the journey.
