The BJP Thursday accused LoP Rahul Gandhi “and his team” of trying to insult PM Narendra Modi and the country’s institutions by “building narratives with foreign support and from foreign soil”.
The Congress hit back, accusing the BJP of misleading the country by discrediting questions on “vote chori”, faulty voter lists, deaths of BLOs and China’s claim on Arunachal Pradesh by raising issues of X handles of Congress leaders based abroad.
BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “From SIR (special intensive revision) to Operation Sindoor, Congress and its overseas ecosystem have tried to create confusion in the country.” Patra displayed various X accounts, which he alleged, were created from abroad, campaigning against the EC, the BJP-RSS, and PM Narendra Modi on different issues, including the Congress’s allegations of “vote chori”.
Patra said several Congress and “Left ecosystem-linked accounts” on X operate from various countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe and the US to build a “narrative” against the BJP-RSS and the Modi government. This came to light, he said, after X introduced a new feature through which one can find information about the account holders’ location, date of creation, among others, Patra said.
The Congress responded with spokesperson Supriya Shrinate saying several BJP-linked accounts, including Gujarat BJP’s X account, are being operated from foreign locations and asked whether they were all indulging in “anti-India narrative”.
Shrinate pointed out that questions are being raised on “vote chori” and faulty voter list, death of 26 BLOs. “… this is BJP’s attempt to discredit all those questions. The BJP is the chief architect of a large voter scam,” she alleged.
