Hailing his party’s victory in Haryana as the “people’s answer” to a Congress “conspiracy to divide the country on grounds of caste” and “defame Indian democracy and its institutions”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday also slammed the Congress for refusing to accept the Haryana poll results, saying it had questioned the neutrality of the Election Commission even during the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, Modi said, “The message is clear that this conspiracy to divide the nation won’t work. In recent days, there have been many conspiracies against India’s democracy, economy and social cohesion. There are global conspiracies against these. I say with responsibility today that the Congress is part of this game. Nationalist Haryana has given a resounding slap to the conspirators. We have to resolve not to allow any such conspiracy to succeed.”

“Congress wants a society where people hate their own heritage. It wants to project in a bad light all that people of the country are proud of. Be it any institution, the Congress wants to defame it. They and their Urban Naxal friends went to the judiciary to defame the Election Commission. They have done the same thing today. It wants to defame our institutions. The Congress shamelessly commits such deeds,” he said.
Accusing the Congress of trying to divide the country on caste lines, he said, “To come to power, it can divide the country. Today the country is seeing how the Congress wants to divide the poor on grounds of caste. People with silver and golden spoons want to make people fight over caste. People should not forget that Congress deprived Dalits and backwards of basic amenities. They will never allow a Dalit, tribal and OBC to become Prime Minister when in power. The Congress family hates Dalits, OBCs and tribals. So, when Dalits, tribals and OBCs are acquiring power and posts, they are getting a stomachache.”
Asserting that the Congress had even said that they would remove reservation, Modi alleged that they were about to do the same in Haryana.
“To make the country weak, they are instigating different classes. They provoked farmers of Haryana, but the farmers have sent the message that they are with the country and the BJP. They also tried to instigate Dalits, OBCs and tribals, but they too gave the message that they are with the country and the BJP. They tried to instigate the Army, but the jawans are also with the country and BJP,” he said.
He said the Haryana verdict will resonate far and wide, suggesting that it will echo in other poll-bound states.

Sending a message to Congress allies that it was trying to benefit from their strengths without offering anything in return, Modi said, “Today’s results have also made it clear that Congress is now a parasitic party. While in Haryana it was badly defeated, in Jammu and Kashmir its ally was saying it is suffering because of the Congress. We see the same in today’s results. Even in Lok Sabha, the Congress won more than half its seats with the help of allies. In many states, the allies had to pay for the bad performance of the Congress. The Congress, as a parasite, feeds on its allies.”
He described the elections in J&K as historic, saying this was the first poll after the Indian Constitution came into full force in the erstwhile state after the abrogation of Article 370. “Some people said Kashmir would burn without Article 370. But Kashmir has bloomed. People have voted in large numbers. Kashmir is coming out of separatism and curfew,” he said.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, we have restored the spirit of the Constitution. What will be a greater tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar?”
Congratulating BJP workers and the voters, Modi also chose to congratulate the JKNC for its performance in a peaceful election in J&K which he called a victory for democracy.
