Bihar Assembly Leader of Opposition and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, speaking to the reporters on Monday, said, “PM Modi is coming to Bihar, and I hope action will be taken against state Urban Development Minister Jivesh Mishra, who abused the mother and sister of a journalist for asking questions."

"I hope he will be removed from the state council of ministers and will be jailed. Is he not a son or brother of someone? Is PM Modi coming here just for votes? Is this not a ‘jungle raj’? PM Modi continues to rant about infiltrators…," Yadav told the media.

Earlier, during the press conference, Yadav alleged that Minister Jivesh Mishra misbehaved and abused a journalist for asking questions about road construction in his constituency, Jale in Darbhanga.

He had said, “This is what is happening in Bihar, and such is the law and order situation. Had there been equal law for everyone, why has no action been taken? The PM, the CM, and everyone in the government should explain what is happening in Bihar…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday night took to X to share his arrival in West Bengal, where he will inaugurate a key defence meet in Fort William today.

"I have arrived in Kolkata after the programs in Assam, where tomorrow I will have the opportunity to participate in the Combined Commanders’ Conference. After that, I will go to Purnia in Bihar, where, along with the inauguration of the new terminal building of the airport, I will launch several development projects worth around 36,000 crore rupees," he wrote on X.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open a thermal power project worth Rs 25,000 crore in Bhagalpur on Monday. He will lay the foundation stone of the Rs 2,170-crore Vikramshila-Kataria rail line project and virtually inaugurate the Rs 4,410 crore Araria-Galgalia rail line.

In a boost to the Union government’s Labharthi schemes in the poll-bound state, keys to 40,920 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be distributed. These houses were constructed at a cost of Rs 603 crore.

The PM will also distribute a community investment fund of Rs 500 crore to women’s federations under the Prime Minister’s DAY-NRLM scheme.

In light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kolkata, the Kolkata Police have announced traffic and parking restrictions for goods vehicles on several major roads on Sunday and Monday.

The restrictions will be enforced between 3.30 pm and 8 pm on Sunday, and 7.30 am and 4 pm on Monday, in various parts of the city.

Modi will later depart for Purnea, in poll-bound Bihar, on Monday afternoon, where he will inaugurate projects worth Rs 36,000 crore in sectors such as agriculture, energy, Railways and women-led empowerment, open an airport in Purnea and launch the National Makhana Board.

His Purnea visit, in the Seemanchal region, stands significant as the BJP has usually struggled to make electoral inroads there.

A day after concluding his visit to the Northeast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday is set to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025 at Fort William, the headquarters of the Army’s Eastern Command, in West Bengal.

The conference, which will be held from September 15 to 17, will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and several other dignitaries.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for allocating the state a "gift" worth Rs 18,000 crore in the form of development projects.

Addressing the public gathering, Sarma said, "PM has given us a gift worth Rs 18,000 crore, which Congress could never give in its reign.”

"In Assam, lakhs of acres have been reclaimed from infiltrators," he claimed, adding, "The BJP’s objective is to protect the country from infiltrators and restore its integrity. I challenge those politicians who defend infiltrators to come forward and face this issue, let them show what efforts they have made to remove infiltrators, compared with the efforts we have made. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday, addressing a public meeting in Assam’s Darrang district, came down heavily on the Congress party for their support towards infiltrators, and anti-national groups in the state.

“For its politics, Congress stands with every person and thought that is against India. We saw this even during Operation Sindoor. Today, when our Army carries out Operation Sindoor and uproots terror hideouts across Pakistan, Congress chooses to side with Pakistan’s Army. Instead of standing with our forces, Congress furthers the agenda of those who shelter terrorists," he alleged.

He added, “For Congress, vote-bank politics is the biggest priority; it does not even care about the nation’s interest. Today, Congress has also become the biggest protector of infiltrators and wants them to permanently settle in India.” (PTI)

Hailing GST reforms, he said, “Now GST will undergo next-generation reforms. I have come here today with this good news. Exactly nine days from today, on the first day of Navratri, GST rates will be significantly reduced. This will benefit every family in the country and make daily-use items cheaper.”

Earlier, he hailed his BJP government's work in the state, saying that its "focus on connectivity helped businesses, and created employment opportunities for youth."

“No matter how much abuse they [Congress] hurl at me, I am a devotee of Lord Shiva; I absorb all that. But when someone else is insulted, I cannot tolerate it. I know their entire ecosystem will claim that Modi has started ‘crying’ again, but if I do not share my emotions with my God, the people here, with whom will I? Addressing a gathering in Assam’s Darrang district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) double-engine government is "committed to protect Assam's culture, and ensure development," news agency PTI quoted him as saying.

The double-engine government is "developing Assam as the health hub," he said, adding that Northeast has big role to play in achieving 'Viksit Bharat' dreams. (PTI)

Addressing a gathering in Assam's Darrang district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said he was "pained" over Congress' insults to Bharat Ratna awardee Bhupen Hazarika, as per news agency PTI.

In 2019, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge had slammed Modi’s government for conferring the award to a ‘singer’ instead of spiritual leader Shivakumara Swami.

“When the Indian government awarded Assam’s pride Bhupen Da Hazarika ji with Bharat Ratna, Congress leader said that PM Modi gives Bharat Ratna to dancers and singers… In 1962, when the India-China war occurred, (former PM) Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave remarks (during the Chinese invasion). The wounds of the people of the North East are still not healed,” the PM alleged. (PTI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday hailed Assam as one of the fastest-growing states in India, under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that it is registering a growth rate of around 13 per cent in the present times, news agency PTI reported.

"Today, India is one of the fastest-growing countries in the world, and Assam is also among the fastest-growing states," he said.

"There was a time when Assam lagged behind in development, it could not step forward along with the country. But today, Assam is moving ahead at a growth rate of 13 per cent," he told the gathering in Darrang. (PTI)

Other development projects, which he will launch shortly, also include Darrang Medical College along with a nursing college and a GNM school in Mangaldai town, as per officials.

It also includes the 2.9 km-long Narengi-Kuruwa bridge, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore, they told PTI.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony for projects worth Rs 18,530 crore on Sunday as a "momentous occasion" for the state.

Sharing an X post, Assam CM wrote, "Today is a momentous occasion for Assam. In a short while from now, Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji will dedicate projects worth Rs 18,530 cr. These works include new roads, bridges, a medical college and a major clean energy initiative."
