WITH THE opposition framing the 2024 Lok Sabha poll battle around caste census, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Thursday that he considers the poor, youth, women and farmers as the “biggest castes”, and uplift of these four will make the country developed.

Interacting with beneficiaries of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, the Prime Minister said, “Mere liye desh ki sabse badi chaar jatiyan hain. Mere liye sabse badi jaati hai garib. Mere liye sabse badi jaati hai yuva, mere liye sabse badi jaati hai mahilayen. Mere liye sabse badi jaati hai kisan. (For me, there are four biggest castes in the country. For me, the biggest caste is the poor. For me, the biggest caste is the youth, the biggest caste is women. For me, the biggest caste is farmers).”

In char jatiyon ka utthan hi Bharat ko viksit banayega. Agar chaar ka ho jayega to iska matlab  sabka ho jayega. (Only the uplift of these four castes will make India developed. And if it happens to these four, it means it will happen to everyone),” he said.

Modi said he wants to improve the living standard of every poor person, irrespective of birth status.

“Any poor person in this country, irrespective of his birth status, I have to improve his standard of living and bring him out of poverty. I want to provide new opportunities for employment and self-employment to any youth of this country, irrespective of their caste. Any woman in this country, irrespective of her caste, I want to empower her, reduce the difficulties in her life… Any farmer of this country, irrespective of his caste, I have to increase his income, I have to increase his capacity. I want to modernize his farming…,” the Prime Minister said.

“Be it the poor, the youth, women or farmers, I am not going to rest until I get rid of their difficulties. Bless me so that I can work with that much power and get rid of all the problems of these four castes,” he said. “When these four castes become strong, naturally every caste in the country will become strong. When they are strong, the whole country will be strong.”

He said that Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra rests upon four pillars – Nari Shakti (women power), Yuva Shakti (youth power), farmers and poor families – which he called “Amritstambh”.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is aimed at reaching out to the people and create awareness as well as provide them benefits of welfare schemes such as sanitation facilities, essential financial services, electricity connections, access to LPG cylinders, housing for the poor, food security, proper nutrition, reliable healthcare and clean drinking water. It was launched by the Prime Minister from Khunti, Jharkhand on November 15.

As part of the yatra, specially designed IEC (Information, Education and Communication) vans are visiting panchayats across the country. The Prime Minister said that when the yatra was flagged off, the government had named these vehicles Vikas Rath. However, people have now started calling them as “Modi ki guarantee wali gadi (Modi’s guarantee vehicle)”. “I was very happy to hear that,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that since the beginning of the yatra, 40,000 LPG connections have been provided under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

He said that when the government identifies the needs of the citizens and gives them their rights, this is natural justice and this is also true social justice.
