Parliament Monsoon Session News Updates: On Day 14 of the Parliament Monsoon session, Opposition MPs today continue with their protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Bihar voter list ahead of the assembly election, demanding a discussion regarding the same in both Houses. Further, the Congress party moved a notice in the Lok Sabha demanding a discussion on the fresh tariffs imposed by Donald Trump-run US administration on India. The notice said, “The imposition of an additional 25 per cent tariff by US President Donald Trump on Indian goods, raising the total to 50 per cent. This action, citing India’s continued purchase and resale of Russian oil, has been rightly termed unfair and politically motivated.”

Kiren Rijiju on Oppn’s SIR discussion demand: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the House that Opposition’s demands of discussion regarding Bihar SIR can’t be taken up in the Parliament since the matter is already filed in the Supreme Court. Earlier, the Rajya Sabha witnessed a sharp exchange between LoP Mallikarjun Kharge and RS Chair Harivansh. Kharge alleged that CISF personnel were deployed inside the House to prevent MPs from protesting inside Rajya Sabha.

List of business in Parliament today: On Day 14 of the Monsoon session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to continue the discussion on the statement on expenditure of Manipur’s budget. The National Sports Governance Bill 2025 and National Anti-Doping Act 2022 will be moved in the Lower House by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
