Meanwhile, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot Monday informed the Lok Sabha that the government was not a party in the Supreme Court which has ordered that states are not bound to provide reservation in job promotions. Gehlot said the top court's order pertains to a decision of the Uttarakhand government taken in 2012 when the Congress was in power in the state. This led to protests by Congress members who walked out of proceedings.

The Home Ministry on Tuesday said it has no information on any group called the ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’. Replying to a written question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said the ministry has no information on whether the terminology ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ is based on specific inputs provided by law enforcement agencies.
“No such information has been brought to the notice of the government by any law enforcement agency,” he said.

Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav Tuesday asked the government when former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and sitting MP Farooq Abdullah would be released from the detention by J&K administration.
