The crash involving the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express, the SMVT Bengaluru-Howrah Express and a goods train near Balasore in Odisha last week is one of the worst train accidents in recent times, leaving 275 people dead and over 1,000 injured.

Visuals and numerous accounts have been put out by survivors of the accident, with most of them recounting the harrowing experience they have had. Over 2,000 personnel raced against time to make their way through tonnes of steel and find the hundreds trapped in the wreckage.

A new video has now come up, that shows the exact moment when the Coromandel Express crashed. The Indian Express, however, has not been able to verify the authenticity of the video.

The video, shared by Odisha TV, shows passengers relaxing when a sudden jerk occurs and screams can be heard as the video starts getting blurry. In a few seconds, the video goes dark, but the shrieks continue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have visited the accident site to take stock of the situation. The leaders also met the injured in the hospitals.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the probe in the case and has already visited the Bahanaga railway station, its panel room, record room and relay room, and spoke to staff present there as part of its investigation.

The CBI has started its investigation based on an initial FIR registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Balasore police station.
