Two people died and fourteen were injured after INS Betwa, a guided missile frigate, tipped over during undocking at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Monday. “INS Betwa undergoing refit at Naval Dockyard Mumbai slipped on the dock blocks while undocking today at about 1.50pm. Extent of damage is being assessed,” the Navy said through a press release.”14 personnel have been rescued from the dock with minor injuries. All are stable. Diving in progress to look for two missing crew,” added the release.

A Brahmaputra-class guided missile frigate, INS Betwa is currently in service with the Indian Navy . The ship is named after the Betwa River.
“The incident occurred during undocking evolution wherein it is suspected that dock blocks mechanism failed. Further information is awaited,” Navy Spokesperson Capt D K Sharma said.
Explaining the situation, he said the 3850-tonne ship, having a length of 126 metres, tipped over while it was being undocked. The mast of the ship hit the dockyard ground, he said.
