The Manipur government on Sunday restored mobile Internet services across the state till December 18, barring areas within a two-kilometre radius of areas dominated by Kuki-Zomi and Meiteis, a notification said.
Issued by the Home Department, the notification said the decision had been taken “considering the improving law and order situation and inconveniences faced by the general public due to the long duration of such suspension”.
Services will be restored in the entire state except in a 2 kilometre radius of districts Chandel-Kakching, Churachandpur-Bishnupur, Churachandpur-Kakching, Kangpokpi-Imphal West, Kangpokpi-Imphal East, Kangpokpi-Thoubal and Tengnoupal-Kakching.
The order instructed users to “refrain from activities that may cause situations which will warrant for suspension of Internet services in future”. It said the restoration order will remain in place till 7.45 pm on December 18.
