Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while addressing the last day of the state’s four-day-long Assembly session on Thursday, promised to regain India’s lost glory, saying that his government will prove that Ujjain is the global Prime Meridian” and push to “correct the time of the world”.
“Ever since our government has been formed, we are moving forward with many such agendas. 300 years ago, Indian time standard was acknowledged in the world. But, when we became slaves, the time standard was decided in Paris. Then, for 250 years when the English became powerful, they took it from Paris to Greenwich,” the Chief Minister said.
“There are only two types of creatures: one that starts its daily routine from sunrise, and the other that is nocturnal. But which creatures start their daily routine at midnight? So, who decided that the day will change at 12:00 midnight? This is a scale that has been imposed on us. It is a scale that has been used to try to dilute Indian culture,” Yadav added.
He further said that his government was also working for “raising the respect of the country as well as the Sanatan culture in the world.”
The statement came following a suggestion by Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh to the MP CM to set time as per “Indian standard” in the state. This, right away, had elicited laughter from the Opposition. “This is the mentality that kept us behind,” Yadav said, adding that his government will work to help India regain its lost glory.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister had said that the BJP’s manifesto was like the Ramayan and Gita and assured that all welfare schemes of the previous government will continue. “All schemes from ‘Ladli Laxmi’ to others being run by the previous government will continue and funds will be transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts on the due date,” Yadav said in reply to the thanksgiving motion moved by senior BJP MLA Kailash Vijayvargiya.
“The Sankalp Patra (manifesto) is like the Gita and Ramayan to us and will be fulfilled in total. No government scheme would be stopped. We have earmarked funds for them,” Yadav said.
He added that King Vikramaditya of Ujjain had gone to Ayodhya and built a Ram Temple 2000 years ago. This was mentioned recently by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he added. He assured the BJP government in MP will facilitate visits to Ayodhya for the Ram Temple inauguration on January 22.
