The state health department on Sunday lodged an FIR against unnamed persons in connection with the death of four children,who were administered anti-measle and other vaccines during a government immunisation drive,at a police station in Lucknow.
“The FIR has been registered by Additional Director,Health and Family Welfare,S A Rizvi at Mohanlalgaj police station against unnamed persons”,said a senior official.
The FIR was lodged at the Mohanlanganj police station.
Four children of Mannawa,Rampur and Khera villages died shortly after they were administered measles,BCG and Hepatitis B vaccines by government doctors on Saturday during an immunisation drive in the area.
Five health department employees including a doctor,an employee responsible for maintaining cold chain and three auxiliary midwife and nurse were placed under suspension after being found prima facie guilty.
A magisterial inquiry into the incident is also going on while a team from Centre also visited the area to take stock of the situation.
