Lokayukta has issued notices to former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani for their alleged involvement in a forgery case.

“Four weeks time has been given to them to respond to the complaint in which they have been accused of forging the signature of an industrialist to allegedly grab 26 acres of land in Devanahalli,” Lokayukta sources said on Saturday.

The complaint relates to the sudden cancellation of 26 acres allotted for a Rs 600 crore project during the last edition of Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) in June 2010.

The complainant Alam Pasha (the industrialist) had brought the matter to Lokayukta’s notice. He alleged that Yeddyurappa and Nirani had written to the government forging his signature, stating that his company was no longer interested in undertaking the project.

Following this,a high-level committee had cancelled the project.
