At least nine persons sustained minor injuries in sectarian clashes and subsequent police action to bring the situation under control in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir today,officials said.
Clashes broke out between two sects of Muslim community over a piece of land in Dangerpora area of Bandipora,55 kms from Srinagar,the officials said.
The two sides started pelting stones at each other as a meeting between their representatives to sort out the proprietary of the land failed to resolve the issue.
The officials said police had to use batons and tear smoke shells to bring the situation under control.
Nine persons sustained minor injuries in the clashes and subsequent police action,they said,adding that the situation had been brought under control.
