Haryana court rejects Agnivesh’s anticipatory bail plea

A Haryana court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Swami Agnivesh,against whom a non-bailable warrant had been issued on charges of hurting religious sentiments of Hindu community with his comments on Amarnath shrine.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Pradeep Kumar turned down the anticipatory bail plea of Agnivesh after hearing aurguments here.

The activist had filed the application on September 5 in connection with a case registered against him in Hansi town in Hisar district under sections 295 and 295 A (hurting sentiments) of IPC.

The court had already issued a non-bailable warrant against Agnivesh directing the police to produce him before it on September 19.

The case was registered on a complaint filed in court by Praveen Tayal,a resident of Hansi.
