A plea has been filed before a Delhi court on Tuesday challenging a city police report recommending closure of a case registered on the basis of an audio CD having purported conversations between noted lawyer Shanti Bhushan and political leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh.

Advocates Bhim Pratap Singh and Sanjeev Tayal in their four-page petition, sought “appropriate action” to bring the culprits to trial under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act and said the closure report should not be accepted.

“If the closure report submitted by L N Rao,Additional DCP,Special Cell,Delhi is accepted, that will bring an impression among the general public at large that certain influential persons, who are projecting and pretending themselves as most honest persons on this earth, would be demanding huge money of Rs four crore in the name of judges and thus committing offence under the PC Act.”

“These persons are also guilty of maligning the image of Indian Judiciary,” the petition said.

It added as per the closure report, the investigating officer (IO) has found a prima facie case for demanding money in the name of judges.
