Woman’s body with multiple injuries found on UP school campus, rape suspected

The woman’s clothes and one of her slippers, recovered from the bushes on the school campus, indicate she belonged to an upper middle-class family, police said.

Incidentally, the spot where the body was recovered is about 10 km away from the village that former US president Bill Clinton visited Thursday morning. Heavy police force was deployed in the area since Wednesday night.

The police found out about the incident around 7.30 am Thursday after being informed by the locals.

Lucknow Range DIG Navniet Sakera, District Magistrate Raj Shekhar and SSP Kumar, who were accompanying Clinton to the village around 1.30 pm, visited the spot around 4 pm, after the former president had left.

An inspection of the spot by the police indicated the woman was taken to the school campus through a small lane made through the broken boundary wall.

The main gates of the school, around 50 metres from the main road, were found locked when the body was recovered. Blood splattered on the campus indicated the woman had dragged herself about 40 metres, police said.

A team of forensic experts and dog squad examined the spot but could not collect vital clues as villagers had disturbed the crime scene, police said. Circle Officer, Mohanlalganj, Rajesh Yadav, said the victim’s left eye was injured.
