A young woman was allegedly raped by two youths in Sirsa district of Haryana. Both the accused,identified as Sirsa residents,Naveen and Ratia,were booked on charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
The incident that took place two days ago came to light today when the victim and her parents approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. The victim,a resident of Sirsas MC colony,said in her complaint to the police that on Friday last week she was going to hear a religious discourse at a Kutia (religious place) located on the outskirts of Sirsa. While she was walking to her destination,a car stopped near her.
Three boys were sitting in the car who offered to give me a lift. They told me that they were also going to the Kutia. However,instead of taking me to the Kutia,they took me to a vacant house in HUDAs Sector 20 in Sirsa. While two of them raped me,the third stood aside and watched the entire incident. They threatened me and warned me against disclosing the rape to anybody, the victim alleged in her statement.
According to the police,the victim reached home and narrated the entire incident to her parents.
For the last two days,the girls family kept negotiating with the families of both the accused,but when both sides could not reach any amicable solution,they approached the police and lodged a complaint. Taking cognisance of the complaint,we registered a case against the accused. The girl was got medically examined and raids are being conducted to nab the accused, said Sub Inspector Hansraj Bishnoi.
