Writer Tasleema Nasreen moved the Supreme Court on Monday seeking protection from arrest in connection with an FIR lodged against her in Uttar Pradesh under the Information Technology Act over a contentious tweet.

In her tweet,Nasreen was critical of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal meeting a Muslim religious leader, who had reportedly approved of issuing a fatwa against her. Subsequently,an FIR was lodged against her at Bareilly in UP. A bench led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam agreed to hear her petition on Tuesday.

In her plea, she has sought protection from arrest, besides declaring the impugned IT provision as constitutional and quashing the FIR.
