An adult male tiger, T 24, was shifted from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve to an upcoming reserve in Sajjangarh, Udaipur, on Saturday afternoon following issues related to man-animal conflict in the reserve.

T 24 has reportedly killed four persons, including forest guards, in the past. With an increasing problem of territorial fights in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, the state government decided to shift out the big cat.

The tiger was moved to the Sajjangarh reserve by road in a canter. It will be kept in an enclosure in Sajjangarh for a few days to acclimatise before it is let out.

Officials said the decision to shift the tiger was taken after a committee was set up following an incident on May 8, when T 72 killed a forest guard.

The move was opposed by wildlife activists, who said government should not interfere with the way animals live.
