Three arrested for attack on two north east students in Bangalore

The accused have been identified as street food vendors Lokesh, Raghu and Mohan Kumar.

Three persons have been arrested by the Jnanabharathi police in West Bangalore for allegedly assaulting two students from North-East India while the students were on their way to their hostel on Thursday night. The accused have been identified as street food vendors Lokesh, Raghu and Mohan Kumar.

The Jnanabharathi police said that the victims have been identified as Lal Mantuia, 19, an engineering student of Dr BR Ambedkar Engineering College and Lal Hmangaisia, 19, a student with St. Joseph’s College in Shanthinagar.

Both are natives of Mizoram and are staying in a hostel located in the Papareddy Layout. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West division) Labhu Ram confirmed the incident and the arrests. Police said that the victims were returning to their hostel at around 11 pm when the incident took place. The accused allegedly taunted and teased the north east students triggering an altercation where the three locals assaulted the students.
