Team Anna targets Modi,Ramdev

Earlier in the day,sharing the dais with Modi in Ahmedabad,Ramdev gave him a clean chit on corruption. “Everybody is asking me about corruption in Gujarat,but I couldn’t find anything of this sort,” said Ramdev,adding that Modi “has done nothing wrong”. Modi also praised the yoga guru saying he was doing an “excellent job” in the national interest.

Interestingly,Anna Hazare,who joined the indefinite fast today,has praised Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in the past,saying their work should be emulated by other state governments.

Singh’s remarks highlight the strain in the relations between Team Anna and Ramdev,as well as the differences between Hazare and his team. On Saturday,Ramdev had described Team Anna as a motley group of activists who should be evaluated in isolation from Hazare.

Meanwhile,Hazare apologised for the defacement of the wall outside the Prime Minister’s residence by some protestors who wrote “chor” on it. “That is not right. Use of such words against the Prime Minister lowers the level of discourse. I apologise for it,” he said,hours after Arvind Kejriwal forcefully refused to agree with Hazare’s view that Pranab Mukherjee should not be targeted now that he is the President.

“My team told me not to fast citing health reasons. When over 400 people are on fast,I cannot ignore them and not be on fast,” said Hazare. He also unveiled Kejriwal’s book Swaraj.
