The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to investigate the black money case, to submit the status report on the progress made by it in the probe by May 12.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India H L Dattu said it would examine the report on May 12 and pass appropriate orders subsequently.

As petitioner in the case, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani alleged that there was determined effort to frustrate the orders by this court regarding the probe in the black money case and the bench said it would hear his contentions after perusing the status report.

Jethmalani asserted that he was pursuing his PIL in the interest of the nation, prompting the bench to observe: “We are with you on that. We will go through the report first and then pass orders. Don’t worry, we will hear you at length on the next date.”
