Sunanda case: No legal notice served to Tharoor, says Delhi Police chief

Bassi said that 'the investigating officer has to collect more information and all evidences are being examined and verified'.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Thursday clarified that they have not issued any legal notice to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

“We have not issued any formal legal notice to Shashi Tharoor in connection with the probe into his wife’s death. Whatever needed is being done to investigate,” Bassi said.

“The investigating officer has to collect more information and all evidences are being examined and verified,” he added.

On Wednesday, reports had emerged quoting senior police officials that Delhi Police had served a notice to Tharoor asking him to join investigation into the death of his wife.

As per the reports, Tharoor who is in Kerala, had been asked to join probe at the earliest.

Delhi Police had registered a case of murder a few days ago in the matter, following the final report from the medical board of doctors at AIIMS which conducted autopsy on Pushkar.

An SIT has also been formed by the police to probe the case.

Pushkar was found dead in a south Delhi hotel’s suite on January 17 last year.
