Pune: Sri Lankan plane with horses from Pakistan makes emergency landing

The engine of the military transport aircraft developed a snag midair and the plane had to make an emergency landing around midnight.

A special transport aircraft belonging to Sri Lankan defence forces and carrying eight horses from Pakistan to Sri Lanka had to make an emergency landing at Pune International Airport due to a technical snag. Intelligence agencies and police swung into action within minutes and the horses and their Pakistani handlers were stationed at the Pune Race Course on Thursday.

According to sources, eight horses were being sent to Colombo from Islamabad as part of a friendly exchange between armies of Pakistan and Sri Lankan. The engine of the C-130 military transport aircraft developed a snag midair and the plane had to make an emergency landing around midnight.
