“We have made a mistake by initiating talks with the NC simultaneously with the PDP. This has given the PDP an upper hand in the discussions as the NC later rejected an alliance with the BJP. We should have had discussions only with the PDP, should have exposed it and at a final stage, could approach the NC,” said a senior leader.
“Now, it appears that the best option for the BJP is to have the President’s rule because the party has lost its upper hand,” the leader said. A common ground was elusive in the party’s discussions with PDP.
