Amid controversy over the draft IIM Bill, the Human Resource Development Ministry on Friday indicated that it was open to “reviewing” and “correcting any inconsistencies” in the Bill.
“We will review the Bill. If there is any inconsistency, typographical error, we will correct it,” Higher Education Secretary V S Oberoi said.

The draft Bill has been criticised for attempts to curtail and impinge upon the autonomy of the IIMs.
Seeking to reach out to the prestigious B-schools, HRD Minister Smriti Irani held an hour-long discussion with chairperson of IIM Bangalore’s Board of Governors Kiran Mazumdar Shaw on Friday. Irani said the “fallacy” surrounding the Bill needed to be “dispelled”.
