Concerned over low voter turnout,senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on Wednesday said he will sanction Rs 5 lakh out of the MPs discretionary fund,if more than 90 per cent of the electors in Kangra and Chamba districts voted on Sunday.

Concerned over low voter turnout,senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on Wednesday said he will sanction Rs 5 lakh out of the MPs discretionary fund,if more than 90 per cent of the electors in Kangra and Chamba districts voted on Sunday. He also announced that the BJP,on its return to power,will make voting compulsory. It is shocking that only 30 per cent people cast votes. There is an urgent need to increase participation of the people in polling using some innovative means, he said.
