Rajendra Sethia’s wife killed in high-speed car crash

An eyewitness said the Honda City was turning left when the Swift crashed into it from behind.

“The Honda City flew towards the right and crashed into a pole,and the Swift stopped 50 metres away. I rushed to see if the driver was alive. I saw that a woman inside the Honda was unconscious and bleeding. She was stuck between the two seats. The car was crushed badly from behind,so it was difficult to open the door and rescue her,” said the eyewitness.

Passersby broke the window of the car and pulled out Sonia.

“We called the police and all were taken to the hospital,” said Arun Singh,another eyewitness.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg said police suspect that the Swift was speeding,and the driver lost control of the vehicle. “When the car is in such high speed,the driver does not pay attention to the vehicles approaching the stretch from various turns. The response time on the road is very less,” he said.

Police said Sonia was returning from a friend’s house in Gulmoher Park after a party.

Sonia’s husband,Rajendra Sethia,and Fardeen Khan were at the AIIMS mortuary on Monday afternoon to receive the body. Sethia flew into Delhi from Kolkata on Monday.

Kumar,who was the only earning member in his family,is survived by his wife and two sons.
