A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA was injured in scuffle with marshals during protests in the J&K Assembly over alleged indiscriminate distribution of newly-created administrative units, forcing Speaker Mubarak Gul to adjourn the House for the day.
The injured MLA, Syed Mushtaq Shah from Tral, was examined in Central Hall and then taken to hospital by colleagues. Sources said his back was injured while he was being dragged by the marshals.
Angry PDP members then clashed with the marshals, kicked the table, threw chairs and broke the Assembly Secretary’s mike.
The oppsition’s protests follow various demonstrations in parts of the state since CM Omar Abdullah announced the creation of new administrative units a fortnight ago.
